Trash free lunch...our commitment to sustainability
Updated: May 20, 2021
The Marva Collins Cottage School vision calls us to protect the planet. We show our commitment to sustainability in several ways. In addition to recycling and composting in our classroom, we bring a trash free lunch each day. An Oklahoma State University report indicated that one school-aged student who uses disposable lunch products creates 67 pounds of waste during a nine-month school year! Unfortunately, much of this plastic waste ends up in our oceans and water sources. At MCCS our lunch items are packaged in reusable containers rather than using disposable products. Each student will also need a reusable water bottle daily. To get your family started, you will receive a branded Hydroflask upon your student's enrollment! If you need help finding lunch supplies, I've listed some of my favorites below. However, you are welcome to use whatever reusable products work best for your family.
